Class 8.06: Internet Safety

The Internet is something that we can’t see or touch, so we don’t often think of it as being unsafe. We may believe, “What we can’t see can’t hurt us,” but the opposite may be true.

Just as we don’t leave our house or car unlocked, we should be careful that we don’t provide access to our personal information to people we don’t know.

If you are careful about the information you share and keep your computer free from viruses, the time you spend on the Internet will be worry-free.

One of the best ways to make sure you are browsing the Internet safely is to make sure that the browser you are using is updated. Your browser notifies you when it has updates.

To assure that your Chrome browser is updated:

  1. Click on the three dots menu
  2. Click on Help
  3. Select About Google Chrome.
  4. This connects you to a webpage that indicates the version of Chrome you are using and whether or not it is updated.
