Children’s Services

From storytimes to after school activities, explore the activities, materials, and programs available at Heights Libraries, all designed to prepare children for literacy and inspire a lifelong love of learning.

The children’s rooms at each branch offer a variety of materials to build early literacy skill development as well as resources, materials, and games for children of all ages.

Children, families, and caregivers are welcome to read books on our cozy furniture, play with a variety of toys designed to inspire communication, cooperation, imagination, and enthusiasm for reading and learning.

Daycare providers, preschools, and teachers are welcome to visit our children’s areas. If you are planning a group visit, advance notification is appreciated.

Free after school homework help is available to learners in grades K- 8 during the school year.

 Schedule a visit to the library, arrange a classroom visit from the library, request subject-specific materials or classroom book sets, and more.

Storytimes

Storytimes at the Library are often a child’s very first experience of a live performance. In addition to special storytimes, each branch of Heights Libraries offers a variety of age-specific storytimes on a weekly basis. Check the program calendar for upcoming storytimes. Space may be limited.

For toddlers who are walking (up to 30 months).

Summer library programming at Heights Libraries enhances lifelong learning and provides meaningful, fun experiences for families and the community. Each summer, Heights Libraries offers programming to advance academic performance by engaging children of all ages in reading during summer months. Join the challenge and enjoy new incentives and activities each year that build a love of reading!
